I found out that people like to put pictures on their blog header, but they never look at the bad point.

For example, you have a blog and you want to put a picture in the header. Your blog title is Hall Mass No Pass. You add a small picture, and what happens? You only see part of it. Why?

You picture is small so the blog header tries to shrink the title to fit the picture(with no success). So, if your blog title is long, get a big picture. Hope this helps. =)

Read The Passage Below And See If You Can Feel The Thrill And Imagine The Scene...

You are in a library, a deserted one. You used to love libraries but now you don't(you don't know the reason why). You went in without know it and you feel weird. Suddenly, your feet are directing you to a stairway at a corner. You try to stop your legs from moving but it resists your command and moves on. You look around but saw nothing but huge shelves of books.

"Wow," you said softly but it seemed to be loud in the silence. Afraid of disturbing anyone in there and getting into trouble, you let your legs do the job as u watched your surroundings quietly. A few minutes late (though it felt like hours), your legs stopped but u still could not control them. Your hands suddenly flew forward dragging u with it and grabbed a book from a shelf.

You felt guilty and tried to put back the book but the book burst open before you could put it back. Pages flew like mad, your eyes were stung from such a big wind. You tried to look away but your body was totally out of your control. As you looked into the pages, you saw nothing but snowy white paper. Soon, the flipping stopped.

And there, on the page, you saw words in bloody red:

Welcome To The Land Of The Dead

You screamed and tried to run, but it was no use. You are in big danger...

If you imagined it ---------------------- You got good imagination
If you imagined it and felt the thrill ----- You got great imagination
If you didn't feel anything -------------- Too bad

Post a Comment on how u think it should end and how you feel about the passage. Thanks!

The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

like my father's come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when September ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again

The is a cool book--Read Please!--

Synopsis
Romulus and Fabiola are twins, born into slavery after their mother is raped by a drunken nobleman on his way home from a good night out. At 13 years old, they and their mother are sold: Romulus to gladiator school, Fabiola into prostitution, where she will catch the eye of one of the most powerful men in Rome, and their mother into obscurity and death in the salt mines. Tarquinius is an Etruscan, a warrior and soothsayer, born enemy of Rome, but doomed to fight for the Republic in the Forgotten Legion. Brennus is a Gaul; the Romans killed his entire family. He rises to become one of the most famous and feared gladiators of his day - and mentor to the boy slave, Romulus, who dreams night and day of escape and of revenge. The lives of these four characters are bound and interwoven in a marvellous story which begins in a Rome riven by corruption, violence and political enmities, but ends far away, where Romulus, Brennus and Tarquinius find themselves fighting against the Parthians and overwhelming odds.

Review
The Forgotten Legion by Ben Kane is an excellent book, an example of what an historical fiction book should be. Its pages are full to the brim with history, battles, political intrigue, love and loss all the while featuring characters and locations that are both realistic and vibrant.

In July 2007 The Forgotten Legion caused a bidding war between six of the largest publishing houses. Preface, an imprint of Random House, won and Ben Kane signed a three-book deal. Publishing houses rarely misjudge books; the chances of six of them all making an error of judgment is inconceivable. And so it proved…

Inspired by a solo trip through Central Asia in 1997 in which Kane visited places such as the ruins of Antiocha and Pella (Alexander’s the Great’s birthplace), The Forgotten Legion hits the ground running. From the very first chapter, which is set in Northern Italy in 70BC, we in turn visit Rome, Transalpine Gaul, Parthia and many other wonderful ancient locations. It is important in a book of this type that the reader is able to lose themselves in the settings and from the very beginning this is exactly what happens.

The main characters are Tarquinius, Brennus, Romulus and Fabiola. As already mentioned, they are realistic but also slightly larger than life. For example, Brennus, probably the most memorable of them all is at times reminiscent of a David Gemmell creation, such is his heroic stature and seeming invincibility. All of these characters have been dealt a tough hand by the fates and none has any reason to love Rome but they set about using her to gain the most prized possession of them all, freedom.

The extract below tells of the meeting, for the first time of Tarquinius, Brennus and Romulus

“The stranger unslung his axe and sat down with a sigh. Reaching into the bag, he pulled out a large piece of pork and cut off a few slices with a sharp dagger.
‘Care for some?’
The Gaul’s eyes lit up. ‘Thanks. Don’t mind if I do. I’m Brennus and this is Romulus.’
‘Tarquinius is my name.’
The Forgotten Legion, Chapter 18: Flight

Kane does not give us the romantic view of Rome. While showing it for the impressive creation that it was he also describes in detail the rotten underbelly; the streets of Rome are rife with waste, both food and human and the empire is shown to be a creature that feeds on war and slavery, uncaring of the suffering that it has caused, and continues to cause, to those unfortunate enough to have been conquered by its legions.

There has long been a style of writing that I have liked but never been able to put my finger on exactly what it was. Whilst reading The Forgotten Legion the penny finally dropped; the author often allows us a glimpse into the character’s future. This, you may think, would have a detrimental effect on the narrative by giving away important plot points and so removing tension, but in fact the opposite is achieved. Sentences such as “It was the last time he saw Rome” throw up a thousand and one questions such as - Why? When? Does he die? This was very clever and made for compelling reading.

One of the biggest compliments I can give this book is that its 600+ pages felt like only 300. The Forgotten Legion is a book that has universal appeal; a fascinating, educational and action-packed tale of bravery, suffering and hope set at the height of the Roman Empire. Fantastic entertainment.

Ben Kane was born in Kenya and raised there and in Ireland. He studied veterinary medicine at University College Dublin, but after that he travelled the world extensively, indulging his passion for ancient history. Now he lives in North Somerset, where he researches, writes and also practices as a small animal vet. The Forgotten Legion is his first novel. For more information please visit www.benkane.net.

Matthew Skelton book prices

Matthew Skelton was born in the UK but spent most of his childhood in Canada. He started writing while working as a teaching assistant at the University of Mainz and continued when he cam back to Oxford to work as a research assistant. In 2002 he won Richard and Judy’s short story competition.

"I wrote Endymion Spring while living out of a suitcase in a variety of places: an empty flat in Berlin, a haunted house in Surrey, and a little wooden hut at the bottom of someone’s garden in Oxford. Most of my ideas come to me while I’m walking in the countryside and so I’d like to live and write – somewhere within easy reach of the sea, with lots of walks nearby."

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

All Souls Day

All Soul's Day (sometimes called the "Day of the Dead") is always November 2 (November 3rd if the 2nd falls on a Sunday).

All Soul's Day is a Roman Catholic day of remembrance for friends and loved ones who have passed away. This comes from the ancient Pagan Festival of the Dead, which celebrated the Pagan belief that the souls of the dead would return for a meal with the family. Candles in the window would guide the souls back home, and another place was set at the table. Children would come through the village, asking for food to be offered symbolically to the dead, then donated to feed the hungry.

The day purposely follows All Saint's Day in order to shift the focus from those in heaven to those in purgatory. It is celebrated with masses and festivities in honor of the dead. While the Feast of All Saints is a day to remember the glories of Heaven and those there, the Feast of All Souls reminds us of our obligations to live holy lives and that there will be purification of the souls of those destined for Heaven.

The Christian holiday of All Soul's Day pays respect and remembers the souls of all friends and loved ones who have died and gone to heaven. The living pray on behalf of Christians who are in purgatory, the state in the afterlife where souls are purified before proceeding to heaven. Souls in purgatory, who are members of the church just like living Christians, must suffer so that they can be purged of their sins. It is a time to pray for their souls that they may be received into heaven.

Upon death, it is believed that souls have not yet been cleansed of sin. Praying for souls of loved ones helps to remove the stain of sin, and allow the souls to enter the pearly gates of heaven. Through prayer and good works, living members of the church may help their departed friends and family. There are three Requiem Masses that are said by the clergy to assist the souls from Purgatory to Heaven: one for the celebrant, one for the departed, and one for the pope.

The traditions of the Feast of All Souls began independently of the Feast of All Saints. The Feast of All Souls owes its beginning to seventh century monks who decided to offer the mass on the day after Pentecost for their deceased community members. In the late tenth century, the Benedictine monastery in Cluny chose to move their mass for their dead to November 2, the day after the Feast of all Saints. This custom spread and in the thirteenth century, Rome put the feast on the calendar of the entire Church. The date remained November 2 so that all in the Communion of the Saints might be celebrated together.

Many customs are associated with The Day of the Dead celebration. In the home an altar is made with an offering of food upon it. It is believed that the dead partake of the food in spirit and the living eat it later. The ofrendas (offerings) are beautifully arranged with flowers such as marigolds (zempasuchitl), which are the traditional flower of the dead. There is a candle placed for each dead soul, and they are adorned in some manner. Incense is also often used, and mementos, photos, and other remembrances of the dead also adorn the ofrenda.

It is also traditional in some areas to see the play Don Juan Tenorio. Paper mache and sugar skulls are popular, as are cardboard coffins from which a skeleton can be made to jump out. Special masks are also worn, allowing a person to achieve a facial expression for which they feel they are inadequate to achieve.

Traditional Catholics still honor customs related to the relief of the souls suffering in purgatory. One custom is for persons to pray six Our Fathers, Hail Mary's and Glory Be's for the intentions of the Pope in a church, and thereby, receive a plenary indulgence for a soul in purgatory. This action may be repeated for another soul, by leaving the church and re-entering it to repeat the prayers.

All Soul's Day lives on today, particularly in Mexico, where All Hallows' Eve, All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day are collectively observed as "Los Dias de los Muertos" (The Days of the Dead). First and foremost, the Days of the Dead is a time when families fondly remember the deceased. But it is also a time marked by festivities, including spectacular parades of skeletons and ghouls. In one notable tradition, revelers lead a mock funeral procession with a live person inside a coffin.
